The latinoid languages include the original latin language,
and all of the languages that are derived from it.
Those latter languages include portugese, spanish, catalan, french, italian,
romanian, and various less-widespread languages which are mostly
in-and-around Switzerland.

Those languages are typically called "romance languages".
However, the word "romance" is usually used to mean an amorous emotion
between men and women, and its associated behaviors.
Therefore, the use of the word "romance" to denote a group of languages
is unacceptable.
In turn, the word "latinoid" was invented,
so as to hav a name for those languages that is both accurate and
does not also mean something that is unrelated.
